Summary

This is a term appointment NTE 2 years. The position is located in the Editorial Division, Classification Standards and Development (CSD). The division provides management, operation, deployment, archiving, quality assurance, and publication processing in support of electronic publication of technical documents. You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. OPM Qualifications Standards are available at General Arts and Information Series 1001 Two-Grade Interval Positions (opm.gov). Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-7. Specialized experience for the GS-9 position includes: performing publications assignments of average difficulty requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines relative to electronic publishing, archival research, and quality assurance. OR Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience for GS-09 grade level: Applicant must possess master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; or you can qualify based on a combination of graduate education and experience that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-9. Specialized experience for the GS-11 position includes: performing assignments requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques, and guidelines relative to electronic publishing of structured documents (using markup languages such as XML), records management and archiving, quality assurance of documents and publishing systems, and process analysis. OR Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience for GS-11 grade level only: Applicant must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or you can qualify based on a combination of graduate education and experience that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
