Responsibilities

Columbia State Community College seeks a Vice President of Williamson Campus and Extended Services that is innovative, collaborative, and committed to students and positively changing lives through teaching, learning, and service in an environment committed to student success and completion. The Williamson Campus is located in Franklin, TN, approximately 15 minutes from Nashville, and serves both urban and rural communities. The Vice President is the Chief Administrator for the campus and extended services which includes the college’s non-credit workforce program. The Vice President is a member of the President’s Cabinet and is responsible for providing dynamic and strategic leadership for:

  • Executive administration through collaborative and innovative leadership for strategic advancement of the Williamson Campus, workforce programs, economic development, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the President for advancing the college and community relationships through active involvement in community boards and events, university and college articulations and partnerships; secondary school programs and outreach; and corporate, business and industry needs.
  • Use data driven information, in concert with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, to develop, implement. oversee and/or schedule academic program and courses that are conducive to meeting the learning and enrollment needs of traditional, non-traditional students, and dual enrollment.
  • Provide guidance, in concert with the Vice President of Student Affairs, for the development and implementation of a student program that supports student communications, enrollment, engagement, and development.
  • Lead in the development of a highly functioning non-credit workforce and continuing education office that supports the training and professional and personal development of the industries and citizens of our region. Collaborate with the academic area for strengthening apprenticeships, internships, and co-op programs.

Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership and supervision of the Williamson Campus and Extended Services division that supports the College’s mission, the president’s priorities and vision, best practices, policy development, accreditation compliance, outcomes assessment, and strategic enrollment management.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, planning, management, supervision and evaluation of programs and services provided at the Williamson Campus for continued improvement and innovation.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to enhance and develop outreach business/industry, and continuing education programs.
  • In concert with the President and Executive Leadership, provide recommendations for budget and operational administration for continued development of the Williamson Campus and the College.
  • In concert with the College’s planning processes, develop measurable, realistic goals for each area supervised that are assessed annually to support the College’s strategic plan.
  • Work collaboratively with college offices and community leaders, business/industry, institutions of higher education, public schools, and agencies and governing bodies to identify and address educational needs and services that support the fulfillment of the College’s mission.
  • In concert with academic leadership, manage academic programs, student services, and facilities to maximize classroom, lab, and facility utilization, while offering a course schedule that meets students’ needs yet maintaining efficiencies.
  • Represent the College in the community to assess the needs for business, economic, workforce development, and continuing education opportunities for credit and non-credit offerings. Plan and/or work with other College areas for implementation of identified programs.
  • In concert with appropriate college leadership and staff, work collaboratively to provide high-quality instruction, and student services.
  • Work collaboratively with the Office of Advancement for planning and resource development for community friend/fundraising, grant identification and development.
  • Be proactive in review, identification and planning of programs and services for continuous improvement, innovation, and developing the Institution to be current while positioning it for strength in longevity as a quality educational institution.
  • Lead, supervise, evaluate and develop staff that are direct reports. Provide evaluative input for staff assigned to the Williamson Campus that organizational report through and are evaluated by another campus area.

  • Serve on college committees as appropriate.
  • Participate as appropriate in the search process for employees.
  • Perform other duties as directed by administrative supervisor.

Job Specifications

Education, Training and Experience Required:

  • Earned Doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and success in college and academic administration preferably in community college administration or outreach education and services.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ recent significant supervisory and leadership experience, preferably in a community college or college setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with colleagues, administration, and students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the role and mission of a community college.
  • Successful experience as a supervisor/manager and a collaborator.
  • Successful experience in using technology for administrative and student functions.
  • A record of valuing and promoting diversity among faculty, staff and student body.
  • A proven record of building collaboration across offices, disciplines, programs, and divisions within a college setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to develop and execute multi-year strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated strengths in innovative thinking, managing and adapting to change, making difficult decisions, resolving conflicts, and documenting employee, department, and division accountability.
  • Documented success in setting and meeting goals.
  • Demonstrated experience with institutional budget management, strategic planning/assessment, and accreditation and Federal compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in an environment of organizational change.

  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, intercultural communication and presentation skills.
  • Successful experience in leading and supervising professional and support staff.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills requiring critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Successful experience working as a collaborative team member to implement innovative ideas within cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of the laws affecting higher education and student services in particular.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans, implement budgets, and assess effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of Banner Student Information System or like systems and ability to use it and other technology to serve students and reduce staff workload.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and regulations in order to prepare and disseminate statistical reports.

Working Conditions

  • Visual and hand usage of computer terminal and/or PC.
  • Requires travel to Tennessee Board of Regents central offices, all campus locations and various teaching sites, and other areas for meetings and other job-related activities.
  • Normal sitting and movement in an office environment.
