Responsible for organizing and performing check image functions for all Credit Union staff. Ensures that work is completed in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assists Head Tellers and other employees with questions regarding teller check transactions. Reviews electronic deposits to determine if the hold should be extended, released or the check returned to member. Completes reporting, teller auditing and balancing duties as required.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

  • Assumes responsibility for the accurate and efficient performance of check deposit functions.
  • Reviews electronic check deposits (ATM and remote deposit via mobile banking) to determine if check holds should be extended, released or if the check should be returned to the member.
  • Adjusts electronic deposit information as needed to ensure accuracy of deposits.
  • Prepares, balances and sends checks to the Federal Reserve.
  • Assists staff with issues related to transactions, with a primary focus on check deposits and holds.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with members and outside professionals.
  • Answers questions and resolves requests or problems promptly and courteously.
  • Maintains the Credit Union's professional reputation.
  • Ensures that members' service needs are met.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with Credit Union personnel and with management.
  • Assists related departments and branches as required.
  • Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Attends and participates in meetings as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Maintains knowledge of check image policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Completes special projects as needed.
  • Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Remote deposit functions are completed in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures and applicable governmental regulations. Process improvement opportunities are identified and recommended. Detects and resolves issues related to member transactions.
  • Checks are returned or paid accurately and timely. Related documentation and reporting is complete and up-to-date.
  • Good business relations exist with members and external professionals. Questions and problems are courteously and promptly resolved.
  • Related balancing functions are complete and accurate.
  • Good working relations exist with Credit Union personnel. Assistance and support are provided as needed.
  • Management is appropriately informed of member transaction activities, issues, and potential losses.

Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Knowledge: Understanding of Credit Union teller policies, procedures, and standards.

Familiarity with appropriate financial regulations.

Experience Required: Two to three years of teller experience required.

Good analytical skills.

Strong decision-making skills.

Skills/Abilities: Accurate and attentive to detail.

Good math skills.

Well organized.

Able to operate standard office equipment.

Able to use financial industry computer applications.

Good communication and supervisory skills.
