Description

Summary/ Objective:

Support the manufacturing operations through process improvement, cost reduction and implementation of the Toyota Production System in order to achieve world class operational excellence.

Essential Functions (but Are Not Limited To)

• Ensures safety of self and others by following all Safety practices and PPE requirements
• Supports all departments with continuous improvement activities.
• Fabricates & repairs shelves, carts, racks, etc as required.
• Maintains work area and equipment to ensure it is clean, orderly and follows required safety regulations.
• Supports process improvement activities though cycle time studies, observation and problem solving.
• Supports process improvement workshops to focus on improved line efficiency using sound problem solving.
• Supports process flow mapping, cycle time studies, project planning, reporting and tracking working with other team members.
• Communicates and escalates results and issues to various team members and management.
• Supports TPS projects to ensure continuous flow, drive out waste and ensure quality.
• Documents and tracks cost reduction, continuous improvement and TPS activities using MS Office Suite.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Rotating shifts may be required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Fabrication experience – using powered hand tools, welder, horizontal and vertical band.
• Experience in manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and standards.
• Proficient math skills including capacity calculations, measurement, etc.
• Experience with MS Office Suite
• Attention to detail
• Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiating skills to contribute in a team environment.
• Strong interest in continuous improvement, TPS and problem solving.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications, Education, And Experience

• Previous experience process improvement activities.
• Previous experience working in teams with a focus on cost reduction, quality improvement, process layout.
  
  

Environment

• Work is conducted in an industrial office/ plant setting.
• Frequent movement throughout an industrial plant environment being exposed to high noise levels and equipment normally used in stamping / welding/ Ecoat environments.
  
  

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of standing on the plant floor.
• Repetitive reaching, pulling, bending, lifting overhead is possible.
• Must be able to lift up to 33 pounds at times.
