Summary
The Manager, Landscape manages a division of 16 personnel in the maintenance of over 200 acres of landscape, 140 irrigation controllers, hardscapes, and other system-wide components within the right of way and associated properties. This is accomplished by scheduling and assigning tasks and projects, inspecting, and monitoring performance and project completion, identifying goals and objectives, coordinating activities with other departments, entering, and maintaining information, as well as managing construction and maintenance contracts. Other duties include reviewing landscape plans for sustainability, maintenance, and adherence to the NTTA Design Guidelines and recommending changes to Project Delivery, maintaining inventories, recommending vehicle and equipment purchases, developing annual budgets, and participating in meetings and committees.
This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in the NTTA Employee Handbook. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain agency operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.

- $2,000 Retention Bonus***
- Manages staff by scheduling and assigning tasks, planning goals and objectives, directing internal maintenance activities.
- Prepares and manages the annual budget by researching information, recommending purchases, expenses, capital equipment, staffing levels, presenting budget and recommendations, monitoring ongoing expenditures, and recommending budget adjustments.
- Manages technical activities by on-site visits, activity evaluation, identifying areas for productivity increases, reviewing plans and specifications, classifying in-house and contract opportunities, and adjusting schedules and activities and researching new industry standards, products and procedures.
- Manages the Division by conducting landscape inspections, coaching and counseling employees, creating programs to ensure initiatives are implemented, assisting with the completion of objectives, providing assistance to other departments and stake holders.
- Review landscape and irrigation plans to ensure sustainability and maintenance objectives are adhered to minimize life cycle costs by fostering open communication with Project Delivery to resolve potential issues. Monitor landscape construction activities in coordination with Project Delivery and Construction Management on new landscape and irrigation projects.
- Required to respond to emails and phone calls received outside of normal business hours as necessary.
M inimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, horticulture, forestry, turf management or related field.
- At least 9 years’ experience
- At least 5 years’ landscape management experience
- Valid Texas driver’s license (or obtain within 30 days of hire)
- ISA Certified Arborist license
- Pesticide Applicators license
- Irrigation Technician license
- Landscape architect license
- Irrigation license
- CAD experience (or similar landscape design software)
