Contract type: Full time
Locus Robotics is a leader in the rapidly growing eCommerce order fulfillment optimization space. Our solution helps warehouse owners attain 2-3X efficiency improvement over cart-picking operations, by empowering pickers to work collaboratively with our robots. All this is accomplished while integrating with the operator's Warehouse Management System, utilizing, and optimizing existing facility infrastructure.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer must be well rounded in technical ability, capable of both design for prototype through rapid development and mid-high volume product designs of our next generation of high performance and intelligent robotic systems.

  • Design of electro-mechanical actuators and sensors
  • Interpret open-ended project requirements and distill into pragmatic sets of specifications for complex new designs.
  • Working with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including specification, design, prototyping, validation and testing.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • BS+ in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience solving complex hardware challenges.
  • 2+ years demonstrated expertise in the mechanical design of complex mechanisms.
  • Expertise using Solidworks or 3D CAD systems and experience negotiating version control with multiple contributors on large assemblies.
  • Well-versed in technical drawings and tolerancing for all manufacturing methods.
  • Prior experience selecting BLDC and stepper motors, sensors, and other electro-mechanical components.
  • Familiarity with common mechanical prototyping tools is a plus (mill, lathe, laser, printer).
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills required.
