Join our dynamic team at Snowbird Agility as a Line Manager. In our Agile organization, a Line Manager plays a vital role in supporting, coaching, and enabling teams to work effectively within the Agile framework. This role involves balancing traditional managerial duties with the Agile emphasis on team empowerment, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

The Line Manager is responsible for supporting the professional growth of team members, fostering an Agile mindset, and creating a productive, collaborative work environment. This individual will ensure that teams have the resources, guidance, and feedback needed to deliver high-quality products and services, while also promoting a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and customer-centricity.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team Development & Coaching
  • Support professional growth: Act as a mentor and coach for team members, providing regular feedback, setting development goals, and supporting career progression.
  • Facilitate skill development: Identify individual and team skills gaps and ensure access to training, coaching, or other learning opportunities.
  • Promote Agile principles: Encourage and guide team members to adopt Agile principles ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer needs.
  • Resource Allocation & Workforce Planning
  • Coordinate team resources: Ensure the right people are assigned to teams, balancing project needs with individual strengths and career development.
  • Optimize workload: Manage workload effectively, ensuring team members are neither underutilized nor overextended.
  • Adapt team structure: Adjust team composition as necessary to respond to evolving project requirements or organizational changes.
  • Performance Management
  • Conduct performance evaluations: Regularly assess and provide feedback on team members’ performance, focusing on growth and continuous improvement.
  • Set and review goals: Help team members set SMART goals and objectives aligned with both personal and organizational goals.
  • Recognize and reward achievement: Acknowledge individual and team successes, fostering a culture of recognition and appreciation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Promote cross-functional teamwork: Encourage collaboration between different teams, departments, or disciplines to achieve shared goals.
  • Resolve conflicts: Address and mediate conflicts within and between teams, ensuring a constructive, open, and respectful work environment.
  • Liaise with senior management and other areas: Serve as a bridge between the team and other parts of the organization, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals.
  • Agile Process Enablement
  • Support Agile ceremonies: Work with Engagement Leads to ensure teams have productive stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies.
  • Remove impediments: Actively address and resolve obstacles that hinder team productivity or morale, such as resource shortages or conflicting priorities.
  • Encourage experimentation: Support a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement by encouraging teams to test new ideas and adapt processes.
  • Strategic Alignment & Goal Setting
  • Contribute to organizational planning: Collaborate with senior management to align team capacity and skills with upcoming project needs and strategic goals.

  • Monitor and report progress: Track and report on team performance, capacity, and project milestones, providing insights for both the team and senior leadership.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Management, or a related field).
  • Experience: 5 years minimum of management experience, ideally in an agile or technology-driven organization.
  • Agile experience: Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and experience working in or managing agile teams.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership and mentoring skills, with experience in coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to influence and inspire.
  • Problem-solving skills: Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and address issues, fostering a solution-focused mindset.
  • Adaptability: Ability to embrace change and encourage flexibility in response to shifting priorities and requirements.
  • Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: Strong interpersonal skills to understand and address team members' needs and motivations.
  • Agile Mindset: Commitment to agile values and principles, with a focus on collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
