Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Position Summary
Lead team of Operations and Maintenance (MET) Supervisors in the Draw department to manufacture Single Mode Optical Fiber and other waveguide products. Create vision and strategy to exceed business objectives in the areas of Safety , Quality, and Performance. Development organizational structure and staffing models to improve labor utilization and unit cost. Create a culture of continuous improvement and drive lean manufacturing principals through every level of the organization. Improve troubleshooting effectiveness and technical capability to support 24/7 manufacturing. Work collaboratively across functions to instill a pull mentality for new technology processes and equipment.
Day To Day Responsibilities
The range for this position is $118,428.00 - $162,839.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.

Day To Day Responsibilities
- Develop a safety culture that seeks injury elimination.
- Ensure safety standards are considered as key inputs to decisions and strategy.
- Manage supervisors whose teams consist of production associates, technicians, and engineers in the plant’s largest bottle neck area.
- Support Engineering with delivery of cost reduction portfolio.
- Create talent pipeline and organizational structure that supports aggressive business growth.
- Work with Engineering and other technical groups to formulate experimental strategies that support short term operating plans and long-term process improvements.
- Lower department costs through improvements in labor efficiency and active receivership of new technology and processes into the Draw Department.
- Support quality objectives ensuring KPIV/KPOV meet customer requirements.
- Responsible for Operation’s budget and forecasts for 1- and 5-year cycles.
- Drive improvements in hiring, training, and retention initiatives.
- Provide operational inputs to innovative technology programs.
- Identify and implement PCPD programs to improve performance and reduce operating costs.
- Manages monthly spend and adjusts Operating plans based on business needs.
- BS in an Engineering Discipline (Ex. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) and minimum of 5 years of leadership experience with progressive levels of responsibility.

- Ability to solve complex problems in high paced, manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work beyond role definition to ensure business objectives are achieved.
- Effective communication skills to all levels of the organization.
- MS in Engineering/MBA
- Project management experience.
- Experience leading large organizations (>100 employees)
- Record of exceeding objectives and leading large change initiatives
