Associate Provost for Online Education

Indiana State University seeks applications and nominations for an innovative, collaborative individual to serve as the first Associate Provost for Online Education (APOE). The APOE will report directly to the Provost, serve as a member of the Provost’s Advisory Committee, work closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director of Graduate Studies, and academic Deans, and maintain strong partnerships with department chairpersons, faculty, and other administrative leaders. The APOE will provide vision and strategic direction for online education and enrollment, online program portfolio management, and instructional design for online programs. Collaboration across all areas of the institution will be essential to success, particularly with academic unit leadership and shared governance structures, Enrollment Management, Enrollment Marketing, educational partnerships, and the workforce development team, among other units.

The Associate Provost for Online Education will be expected to:

• Lead the development of a strategic vision and plan that will expand and sharpen the focus of the university’s online presence within the region and the nation.
• Support online academic programs through high-quality instructional design services.
• Promote innovative pedagogical best-practices.
• Integrate online learning with student support services that increase retention and graduation goals.
• Build on and improve successful programs, identify new programs that will support the university’s goals, and assess the sustainability of all existing online programs.
• Lead the development and growth of non-degree and non-credit credentials.
  
  

Required Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in an appropriate field and 5 years of progressively responsible and demonstrated success in higher education leadership roles related to online education.
