How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare
Carilion Clinic is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Manager to develop and oversee a Decedent Affairs program. This role will ensure timely, accurate reporting according to state regulations. The Quality Manager will oversee a key database, ensure data integrity, and drive process improvements through education, training, and collaborative problem-solving. Working closely with clinical and administrative teams, this position supports Carilion's commitment to healthcare excellence and compliance while optimizing workflows and supporting quality initiatives.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree healthcare administration management or a healthcare related field required or equivalent 8 years of related experience. Masters degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare, with a focus on quality improvement, project management, and database management. Prior experience in training healthcare professionals is beneficial.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certification(s) in healthcare quality, process improvement and project management strongly desired
Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong data management and analysis skills, with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Access, or healthcare databases. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in process improvement and healthcare quality management is highly desirable.

- Oversee the collection, reporting, and timely submission of decedent data, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- Develop and deliver educational programs to physicians, clinicians, and staff, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and improving data management practices.
- Manage and maintain the reporting database, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and proper access control. Conduct regular audits to prevent data errors and discrepancies.
- Analyze data to identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improving reporting processes. Collaborate with leadership to enhance reporting efficiency and compliance.
- Serve as the primary contact for the Virginia Department of Health Office of Vital Records. Work across departments to ensure internal processes align with state reporting requirements.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate any necessary process updates to relevant stakeholders.
