Harris is seeking an On-Site Temporary (2 months) Desktop Deployment Specialist to join the Harris Corporate IT (CIT) team based in our Allen, TX office.
The Desktop Deployment Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day IT equipment needs and assist with hardware procurement for both local and remote employees. They will work in close collaboration with hiring managers and the Procurement Team to ensure timely deployment of technology resources to new hires and current staff, while maintaining efficient asset tracking and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities
This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Occasional after-hours work may be required to resolve critical issues or to help other teams during critical issues.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as occasional equipment setup is required. The role involves walking, sitting, standing, and operating a computer for extended periods.

The Desktop Deployment Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day IT equipment needs and assist with hardware procurement for both local and remote employees. They will work in close collaboration with hiring managers and the Procurement Team to ensure timely deployment of technology resources to new hires and current staff, while maintaining efficient asset tracking and inventory control.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily coordination and deployment of IT equipment for new employees, working closely with hiring managers.
- Handle requests for purchasing computers and peripherals, ensuring accurate documentation, addressing questions, and resolving concerns related to purchases and inventory.
- Create Requisitions and Purchase Orders in our hardware ordering system for refilling office hardware stock and on behalf of the customers.
- Create shipping labels and track orders from placement to delivery, ensuring that packages meet customer specifications and arrive on time.
- Investigate and resolve any shipping delays, verifying that purchase orders match shipments.
- Assist in managing and monitoring inventory control systems, ensuring equipment is available and accounted for.
- Deploy new computers to employees and new hires.
- Maintain an incident management system to track technical problem histories and resolutions.
- 1+ years of experience deploying Windows and MacOS computers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formats, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Superior attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize effectively.
- A strong commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
- Experience working in a support role for a software organization.
- Familiarity with ITSM ticketing systems and ServiceNow.
- Experience deploying equipment to a remote workforce.
