JOB SUMMARY: Metro Engineering Solutions, LLC (“MES”) is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team! MES is a multifaceted utility and telecommunications engineering firm serving clients throughout the Midwest. The Mechanical Engineer will be involved in multiple engineering functions and will be responsible for the design, analysis, and oversight of natural gas projects.
Duties And Responsibilities
Design and develop natural gas infrastructure, including pipelines, pressure control systems, and compressor stations.
Conduct analyses on pipeline stress, flow rates, and gas distribution to ensure system efficiency and safety.
Ensure designs comply with federal and state regulations, including ASME and API standards.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to support project development and execution.
Oversee field inspections and maintenance activities, ensuring proper operation and adherence to safety protocols.
Perform risk assessments and recommend improvements to existing systems.
Use modeling software (such as AutoCAD, ANSYS, or similar) to create and simulate designs.
Prepare technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates for natural gas projects.
Participate in meetings with governmental agencies, utility representatives, local offices, and residents.
Develop and review engineering designs for a multitude of projects.
Qualifications
All other job duties as assigned by management.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
2-4 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
Previous Experience In Natural Gas Facilities Design Is Preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD; Experience using Plant 3D and Civil 3D is preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and ArcGIS is preferred.
Ability to work in fast-paced environments, managing multiple projects concurrently.
Work Environment And Physical Demands
Interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
Primarily work in an office setting.
Ability to travel and/or work in the field as needed.
Compensation And Benefits
Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
