Summary:
The Head of Engineering is our leader of all advanced technical services. The Engineering team has accountability for the most technical projects we execute for our clients. The Engineering team is expected to have the knowledge and experience to be the subject matter experts for our advanced projects. This includes executing projects, creating standards on how to execute projects, and train/mentor the remaining Professional Services Navigators.
We are seeking a seasoned Head of Engineering to lead and oversee a team of high-level engineers in our Professional Services team. This role requires a strong IT background to understand and address technical challenges, though it's more focused on leadership, process management, and resource allocation. The ideal candidate will be adept at assigning the right projects to the right resources, keeping projects on track and within budget, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Leader Responsibilities:
- Coach, mentor, and guide the team for growth and success centered around clear expectations and empowerment.
- Understand team goals, KPI’s, and workflow to align the team to succeed.
- Be the team’s ambassador for all initiatives, responsibilities, and communication.
- Not only aid in directing the right work to the right teammate but empower and train them to identify and do this without supervision.
- Be an escalation resource to the team by identifying who is the right resource and assisting with proper handoffs and escalations.
- Foster teamwork and provide development opportunities and performance feedback to all direct reports.
- Ability to lead and motivate project teams, driving accountability and delivering results.
- Manage and deliver complex technology projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to scope, and staying within budget.
- Understand the technical challenges engineers face, provide guidance to navigate these challenges, and ensure they are well-supported and trained.
- Assign the right engineers to the right projects, optimizing team strengths and ensuring efficiency.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, account managers, and service desk personnel, to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery.
- Oversee the quality of project deliverables, ensuring they meet client expectations and industry standards.
- Implement and refine processes to maintain project momentum and quality, ensuring that engineers are aligned with best practices.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients, providing updates, managing expectations, and ensuring satisfaction with project outcomes.
- Keep projects on track by effectively managing budgets, timelines, and resources.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance team performance and project outcomes.
- Previous MSP Experience
- 10+ years of experience in project management, with a strong focus on technology projects within an MSP or IT services environment.
- 10+ years of IT infrastructure, networking, cloud solutions, and cybersecurity, with the ability to guide technical teams.
- 5+ years of leadership experience, leading larger teams of 5 direct reports or more
- Strong IT background to understand technical pain points and guide engineers through challenges, though not necessarily hands-on.
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-phase technology projects, with a deep understanding of project management methodologies (ex?)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing project challenges.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana?) and collaboration tools.
- Proficiency in the following tools: Auto Task CRM, IT Glue, RMM?
- Well versed in O365 including migration experience
- Experience cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) including migration experience
