Your seat at the table: Archivist Intern
You will love this seat if you get, want, and have the capacity to:
- Cataloging and Categorization
- Organize and categorize old documents, including company newsletters, annual reports, articles, catalogs, and advertisements from West Bend Cookware and Regal Ware Cookware.
- Develop and implement an efficient filing system to archive historical materials systematically.
- Document Management
- Digitize physical documents (if applicable) and ensure accurate data entry into digital archives.
- Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all archival materials.
- Handle fragile materials with care and follow best practices for archival preservation.
- Content Flagging and Identification
- Review and flag images and materials that are suitable for marketing usage in various formats such as displays, art installations, and "coffee table" books.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to identify and select materials that align with current and future marketing strategies.
- Research and Documentation
- Conduct background research to provide context and additional information for archived materials.
- Document processes and create guidelines for ongoing archival practices.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the marketing, design, and history departments to ensure archival materials meet project needs.
- Communicate progress regularly and report any issues or suggestions for improvement.
- Assist with any additional tasks related to the archival project as needed.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in History, Library Science, Archival Studies, Museum Studies, or a related field.
- Previous experience in archival work, museum settings, or similar environments is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with historical document preservation and cataloging practices.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Proficient in using archival tools.
- Excellent research and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for history and preservation.
- Creative mindset with an eye for identifying valuable marketing materials.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of archival integrity.
