Associate Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management to join our team. This leadership position will assist the Vice President to oversee various aspects of insurance and risk management, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and compliance of our facilities. You will play a crucial role in reducing our total cost of risk, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting external risk management initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization's risk management strategies and outcomes.
Responsibilities Associate Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management:
- Lead and facilitate claims reviews and safety committees to ensure optimal outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Provide oversight and support for claims management teams and adjusters, ensuring effective and timely claims resolution.
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers to ensure favorable terms and service delivery.
- Develop and implement a Risk Management Information System (RMIS) to streamline risk management operations.
- Create, update, and enforce policies and procedures related to insurance and risk management.
- Oversee insurance policy management, ensuring appropriate coverage for all facilities and operations.
- Conduct facility training and provide risk management support, promoting safety and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with loss control recommendations to reduce incidents and mitigate risks.
- Oversee Return to Work (RTW) programs, facilitating smooth transitions for employees returning from leave.
- Monitor and report on risk management performance, including trends, areas for improvement, and achievements.
- Lead accident investigations and root cause analyses (non-clinical) to identify risks and prevent future occurrences.
- Foster strong external risk management partnerships, collaborating to drive risk reduction initiatives.
- Actively work to reduce the total cost of risk, balancing safety and operational efficiency.
- Produce reports for senior leadership, providing insights into risk management performance and recommendations.
- Provide support to the Vice President and department as needed to achieve overall risk management goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications (ARM, CPCU, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in risk management, insurance, or related fields, preferably in the healthcare or long-term care industry.
- Expertise in claims management, risk assessments, and compliance with safety regulations.
- Proficient in developing and implementing risk management systems and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce detailed reports and presentations for leadership.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analyses and recommend solutions.
