We are actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Corrosion Technician I for a 12-week contractual engagement. This pivotal role is essential in executing distribution casing data validation between the Geographic Information System (GIS) and the Corrosion Database, thereby ensuring adherence to regulatory monitoring requirements and addressing external corrosion challenges.

We are actively seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Corrosion Technician I for a 12-week contractual engagement. This pivotal role is essential in executing distribution casing data validation between the Geographic Information System (GIS) and the Corrosion Database, thereby ensuring adherence to regulatory monitoring requirements and addressing external corrosion challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct audits and field verifications of all casings in GIS to confirm their inclusion in the Corrosion Database.
- For each casing, verify the following:
- The carrier pipe is steel, as the material type may not always be displayed in GIS.
- Ascertain that the pipe has not been substituted with plastic.
- If the pipe has been replaced with plastic, confirm that further monitoring is unnecessary.
- Ensure the presence of a test point on the casing or a vent (this can be checked via Google Earth).
- Verify that a test point is located within 100 feet of the casing.
- Assess whether the casing is shorted to the carrier pipe.
- Enter casings into the Corrosion Database and perform field readings to comply with monitoring codes.
- Proficient in data validation and GIS applications.
- Knowledgeable about corrosion monitoring and mitigation strategies.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Skilled in conducting field audits and verifications.
- Familiarity with using Google Earth for verification tasks.
- Experience in data validation and field verification methodologies.
- Understanding of GIS and corrosion monitoring frameworks.
- A degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
