Description

The Digital Technology Services (DTS) Lead Data Engineer will work closely with a multidisciplinary agile team to build high quality data pipelines driving analytic solutions across the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. These solutions will generate insights from the organization's connected data, enabling the organization to advance the data-driven decision-making capabilities of the organization's enterprise. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows.

This is a remote position.

Responsibilties

A day in the life of a Digital Technology Services (DTS) Lead Data Engineer with Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines that adhere to extract, transform, and load (ETL) principles and business goals.
  • Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that help our ministry achieve our goals.
  • Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions.
  • Learn about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics.
  • Work with translators to identify business problems that can be addressed by analytics.
  • Work on data management platforms (e.g., Azure, Hadoop, Bluemix).
  • Perform data collection, structuring and cleaning for an end-to-end analytics use case.
  • Create and deploy robust data pipelines.
  • Understand intricacies of IT architecture, security & governance and have the ability to maintain quality data.
  • Aware of data ecosystems and various data sources that can be leveraged.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of experience working in data engineering or architecture role.
  • SQL and data analysis.
  • Programming (i.e.,Python or Scala).
  • Development in cloud computing services.
  • Building data pipelines.
  • Database development experience using Hadoop or BigQuery.
  • Data warehouse maintenance.
  • Work with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI).
  • Familiarity with machine learning.
  • Data governance.
  • Work with structured and unstructured data.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, intellectually curious, and desire to learn.
  • Relationship building and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Requirements translation.
  • Agile work process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred

  • Masters / PhD.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience working in data engineering or architecture role.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare domain.
  • Prior Google Cloud Platform experience.
  • Prior full-stack experience.
  • Experience in the Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering Field.

Licenses And Certifications Preferred

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) certification(s).
