Job Summary:

The purpose of the Web Developer position is to create, build, and maintain websites and web applications. This role involves a variety of tasks dependent on specialization; however, the core responsibility is to ensure that websites are functional, accessible, visually appealing, and user-friendly to ensure the optimum client experience.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Front-end Development: Focuses on the user interface (UI) and experience (UX) of the website. This includes building the layout, structure, and interactive elements of a site using technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Back-end Development: Focuses on the server side, databases, and application logic. This part of the website handles the functionality behind the scenes, such as retrieving data, processing user requests, and storing information, using languages and frameworks like PHP, Node.js, Ruby, or Python, and databases like MySQL or MongoDB.
• Ensures that websites are fully functional, load efficiently, and work seamlessly across different browsers and devices. This includes troubleshooting and debugging issues that may arise during the website's use.
• Focuses on making the site user-friendly, intuitive, and responsive, meaning it adjusts appropriately for various screen sizes (desktop, tablet, mobile).
• Ensures the website is secure from threats like hacking or data breaches and optimizing the site's speed and performance are crucial responsibilities. This may involve implementing security protocols, encrypting data, and optimizing code for faster loading times.
• Integrates third-party services like payment gateways, social media APIs, or analytics tools into websites, which enhance functionality and provide useful data insights for site owners.
• Ensures the website is built in a way that is conducive to search engine optimization, such as optimizing page load times and using clean code.
• Administers ongoing updates, bug fixes, and new features to keep them current, functional, and secure.
• Works closely with designers, project managers, marketers, and other professionals to bring a project to life and ensure that the final product aligns with the client’s goals and business needs.
• Works with the Branding Department to oversee the day-to-day management of the company website.
• Monitors website traffic and performance metrics using analytics tools.
• Manages domain registration and hosting services.
• Keeps abreast of web trends, tools, and technologies to suggest improvements.
• Stays up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
• Ensures cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness.
• Assists with website testing and quality assurance.
  
  

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).

Experience with responsive design and frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, React).

Basic understanding of SEO principles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Ability to work independently and to identify and solve problems

Ability to organize and prioritize work

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Demonstrated ability to work and communicate professionally, verbally and in written form with internal and external customers.

Ability to efficiently multitask and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously while remaining professional and courteous

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience managing and maintaining websites.

Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies.

Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).

Knowledge of SEO best practices and tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush).

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Proficiency in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

Experience with back-end technologies (e.g., PHP, Node.js, Python) is a plus.

Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Joomla).

Understanding of web security principles and best practices.

Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
