  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
    • Facilitates the transfer process from referring facilities. Assists the health care team in maintaining efficient patient care by collecting and reporting patient care data.
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The Samaritan Transfer Center provides access for referring physicians to our on-call physicians for patient consultation or transfer for the Samaritan Health System. Our team of transfer specialists follow protocols to ensure timely access to health care providers using a 24/7 recorded phone line. The goal of the Transfer Center is to provide efficient transfer of patients and coordination of bed utilization within the Samaritan Health System.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting required.
    • Unit secretary/clerk experience preferred.
    • Database management experience preferred.
  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
    • Time Management: Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
    • Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues.
    • Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • Computer Literacy: Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software. Ability to operate applications, enter data, and manipulate and process information. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and information systems.
