The Opportunity
Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Power Electronics Engineer to join our team.
The Power Electronics Engineer will also be responsible for:
- Work on cutting edge power electronics systems for commercial and military aerospace applications
- Design power electronics for systems such as engine controls, motor controls, power converters, sensors, and actuators
- Lead the full lifecycle of electronics design and development including defining requirements, performing trade studies to determine the best system architecture, creating electrical schematics, selecting electrical components, performing circuit analysis, performing or supervising board layout, testing, and systems integration
- Work with other engineers on software, mechanical design, thermal design, wiring harnesses, and manufacturing of electronic assemblies
- Troubleshoot and solve issues that arise from testing
- Conduct design reviews and peer reviews of other team members’ work
- Work in a fast-paced environment where you have a high level of responsibility and ownership of your designs
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- At least 3 years of work experience designing electronic hardware
- Experience with Altium Designer (or equivalent software) for creation of electrical schematics and circuit analysis
- Knowledge of circuit topologies and electronic technologies for power converters and motor drivers and their control
- The ability to work in a focused, multidisciplinary team to bring new products to market quickly
- Hands on experience testing electronics with the ability to safely use common electrical lab equipment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- U. S. Citizenship is required
- Position requires the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U. S. Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing power electronics in the 2kW to 20kW power range, specifically switching power supplies and motor drivers
- Experience designing electronic devices for harsh environment or high reliability applications
- Knowledgeable of MIL-STD-461 and RTCA DO-160 (or equivalent) test procedures as well as HALT/HASS test methodology
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design considerations
- Experience with serial communication interfaces (i.e., RS422, ARINC 429, CAN, SPI, Ethernet, etc.)
