Healthy Iowans Engagement Specialist

Job Description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is seeing a Healthy Iowans Engagement Specialist as a key member of the Performance team. This role is charged with developing and implementing an engagement plan for Healthy Iowans, the state's health needs assessment and state health improvement plan (SHA&SHIP).

Responsibilities

This position will work within the Healthy Iowans team and interact across HHS and with outside partners as part of the SHA&SHIP process. Strong written and oral communication skills are critical for this role.

What You'll Do

This position will also assist with the coordination and technical assistance to HHS advisory groups, state agencies, state community planning groups, and other organizations in implementing the state health needs assessment and improvement plan (SHA&SHIP), also known as Healthy Iowans.

• Aid in the planning and coordination of the steering committee and workgroups for the SHA&SHIP, including arranging meeting logistics, developing agendas, co-facilitating meetings, and documenting meeting discussions.
• Partner closely with the HHS Divisions to ensure the SHA&SHIP are strongly connected with the community health assessments and community health improvement plans administered by the service systems (e.g. local public health, Behavioral Health administration service organizations, area agencies on aging).
• Lead the coordination, development and updates to the Partners in Action process to gather information regarding the strategies partners are implementing for SHIP priorities.
• Assist in the management of content and functionality for Healthy Iowans' web-based engagement activities. This includes compiling and analyzing performance metrics for engagement efforts.
• Raise awareness of Healthy Iowans by facilitating conversations with internal and external partners and promoting continuous engagement in the SHA & SHIP process.
• Serve as lead in writing and disseminating SHA & SHIP content, progress reports, and communication materials (i.e. infographics, one-pagers, presentations). Ensure all communications are audience-appropriate and meet accessibility standards.
• Coordinate, write, and publish Healthy Iowans' monthly newsletter. This includes collaborating with partners to ensure the newsletter highlights ongoing health improvement strategies across the state.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nursing, a human services or health-oriented field, or education, or nutrition and three years of professional experience in these areas;

OR

Masters degree in nursing, public health or science, a human services or health-oriented field, or education, may be substituted for one year of the required experience;

OR

certification as a paramedic and the equivalent of three years of full-time experience as a paramedic;

OR

an equivalent or combination of the required education and experience, totaling seven years, will be qualifying.
