Position Overview

The Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in achieving excellence in all facets of branch operations including production, inventory management, deliveries, team development, customer value, and overall financial performance and growth.

JK Enterprise Landscape Supply, although recently acquired by SiteOne, has been a leading bulk and bagged mulch delivery service in northern Virginia and Maryland for over 25 years. Their mulches, compost, topsoils, and soil amendments are all made in Virginia out of the finest quality materials. Annually, they produce an estimated 600,000 yards of mulch and woodchips, 300,000 yards of topsoil blends, and 100,000 yards of compost.

Today, JK operates two production facilities, in Centreville and Culpeper, Virginia. The centrally located Culpeper site comprises 56 acres and includes a warehousing facility, as well as a building dedicated to bagging bulk forest products. Grinding and screening of organic materials are done at both locations. JK also operates contractor yards in Chantilly, Warrenton, Alexandria, and Davidsonville, MD. In addition, JK owns a fleet of Blower trucks used to deliver and install mulch, compost, topsoil, playground safety surfaces, and other materials directly to the customers’ sites. What You’ll Do

• In collaboration with the Branch (Production) Manager, lead a team and recruit top talent to determine individual strengths and weaknesses of branch associates
• Actively coach and mentor to achieve high performance and to facilitate their long-term career development at SiteOne
• Train and coach all branch associates in customer value best practices and facilitate a culture whereby every team member is obsessed with customer success
• Promote an incident-free environment by emphasizing safety daily through leading by example. Encourage a strong safety culture through workplace organization, training and executing policies.
• Implement strategy to achieve goals and monitor key performance metrics to assess daily, weekly and monthly progress and to track improvement initiatives
• Work with Branch Manager to review performance metrics to track progress and continuously adjust strategies to achieve area goals in light of changing market conditions
  
  

Skills We Are Seeking

• 3 to 5 years of managerial experience including leadership, issue management, motivation and team building preferred
• Must be mechanically inclined and capable of supervising the grinding operation and the equipment associated with it
• Must be familiar with the operation of heavy equipment. This may include, but is not limited to: forklifts, skid steers, rubber tire wheel loaders, track loaders, excavators, and grinders.
• Must be capable of managing the maintenance program/scheduling for all equipment and familiar with OSHA regulations and compliance
• Must possess excellent communication, customer service and leadership skills
• Must conduct oneself with competence, cooperation, loyalty, integrity, initiative and resourcefulness at all times
• Must be willing to split time between the Centreville and Chantilly locations
