Job Overview

The Learning Specialist I provide diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs for children with learning disabilities in all settings in which learning services are offered, including but not limited to outpatient, outreach, and telehealth programs.

Job Status: Full-Time; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits

Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8am to 6pm

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION – Master’s degree in special education, speech-language pathology, psychology or related field.
  • EXPERIENCE – One -year pediatric experience in a hospital, rehabilitation, or school setting providing evaluation and treatment services for children with learning disabilities, required.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) – Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
  • LICENSURE – Professional certification or license may be required depending upon field of expertise (e.g. Colorado Department of Education Teacher's License, Speech Language Pathology ASHA CCC etc).

Essential Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Clinician completes diagnostic evaluations consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in learning disabilities and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
  • Clinician provides developmentally-appropriate intervention services consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in learning disabilities and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
  • Clinician collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other educational institutions, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based on mutual respect.
  • Clinician completes case management activities consistent with department quality assurance and quality improvement standards.
  • Clinician demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of dyslexia and other learning disability features and indicators as well as have knowledge of the management of learning disabilities and co-existing conditions. This includes an understanding of more specialized areas such as attention, behavior management and overall cognition.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $68,066.41 to $102,099.61

Hourly Salary Range: $32.72 to $49.09
