Description

Burial Beer Co is seeking a team-oriented and hard-working individual to fill a Brewer's Assistant position in our growing production team. Brewer's Assistants play an integral role in the production of our beverages, working alongside brewers and taking responsibility for a variety of production tasks.

The Job

The ideal candidate for this role has strong open communication skills, thrives in a teamwork dependent environment, has keen attention to detail with quality and cleanliness always in mind, and is willing to learn, grow and adapt as a member of this team. Previous experience is required to succeed in this role, as well as the understanding of the shifting needs and demands of the beverage industry, and an ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced physically demanding environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate production equipment and perform tasks with safety, efficiency and highest quality.
  • Perform CIP/SIP cycles, following SOP laid out by the company.
  • Dry-hop, adjunct, and harvest yeast from tanks in accordance with the schedule.
  • Operate GEA brand centrifuge and counter-pressure transfers.
  • Monitor and document detailed records, including but not limited to the following: gravities, temperatures, fermentation changes, DOs, carbonation and all other pertinent activity, accurately and daily.
  • Operate measuring equipment, including but not limited to, dissolved oxygen meter, Densitometer, and ATP Meter in alignment with SOP to keep all metrics within set parameters.
  • Communicate regularly and openly with team and manager, reporting any concerns and observations on the floor to ensure product is consistent and meets quality standards.
  • Maintain, manage, and report inventory, supplies and chemical depletion to manager.
  • Maintain a clean, functional and safe brewery at all times.
  • Participate in sensory, providing honest and detailed feedback, reporting any off-flavors or quality concerns.
  • Arrive on-time and ready to work.
  • Update Ekos, BeerSmith, and Grist with finalized data.
  • Must be a team player and able to work with others well, while also being able to maintain independence and autonomy when necessary.
  • Follow all SOPs at all times
  • Assist other departments as needed and when necessary.

Requirements

Who We’re Looking For

  • Brewing Experience is a plus but not necessary
  • Centrifuge experience a plus, but not required
  • Forklift certification is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Able to maintain professionalism and flexibility when encountering unexpected changes or challenges in the workplace
  • Clear understanding of fermentation science and brewery operations and expectations
  • Able to ask for help and communicate mistakes or errors as they occur to manager
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and loud environment
  • Able to be on feet for long periods of time, 8+ hours per day
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Must be flexible and willing to work and adapt to schedule changes
