The Instructional Designer and Content Creator will be pivotal in ensuring L&D solutions provide top tier learning experiences for over 185,000 global RTX employees. This role is responsible for leveraging the latest innovative trends for effective learning design, development and delivery and implementing best practices as aligned to the enterprise’s L&D strategy.
This position reports directly to Director, Learning and Development (L&D) and will work closely with the other Talent Management | Learning & Development (TM | LD) and business unit (BU) talent teams across RTX. This position has dotted line accountability to the Senior Manager, Instructional Design for project oversight and learning solution creation.
What You Will Do
This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. The Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 14-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return-to-work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance and contributions participants will be eligible for a career at RTX.

To qualify for the RTX Re-Empower Program, candidates should:

What You Will Do
- Using principles of adult learning and rapid instructional design techniques, develop and generate highly engaging learning solutions to support large scale, global initiatives
- Develop high-quality training materials inclusive of leaders guides with detailed speaker notes, participant guides, training resources
- Utilize eLearning software to rapidly design and develop scalable training solutions
- Develop and deliver against project plan milestones
- Utilize graphic design techniques to ensure high end visuals
- Leverage best-in-class design principles for developing just-in-time learning and development solutions to global, multi-lingual audiences
- Develop content in the area of leadership development and human skills
- Monitor talent metrics and data to provide analytical and actionable insights for senior and executive leaders regarding efficacy of L&D programs.
- Based on gaps as defined by L&D leadership and project leads, enhance programs as required for sustainability
- Redesign current ILT programs into blended programs to scale deployment across the enterprise
- Conduct Train-the-Trainers, pilot programs; facilitate training as required.
- Travel up to 30%, or as needed.
- Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
- Previous experience in Human Resources, Learning, Talent Development and/or Organizational Effectiveness.
- Previous experience with instructional design, content creation, graphic design and a strong knowledge of adult learning best practices.
- Background developing content focused on leadership and professional transferrable skills
- Background developing highly visually dynamic presentations and learning materials
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
- Certification in either Instructional Design, Graphic Design, or Project Management.
- Ability to support the instructional design and development of critical learning solutions in a matrixed and global environment.
- Experience generating professional presentations that effectively communicate to multiple audiences, including senior and executive leaders.
- Project or Program Management, organization, and the ability to deliver timely, quality projects.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-growth environment, demonstrating agility and flexibility, with minimal supervision.
- Effective communicator and collaborator that can build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to aggregate and utilize data to influence decisions.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel).
- Familiarity with Workday features and functionality.
- This role can be worked remotely from anywhere within the U.S (excluding U.S territories).
