Your day as a Groundskeeper

As a Full-Time Groundskeeper with the City of Pharr, you will take on diverse responsibilities that ensure our public parks and facilities remain clean and inviting. Your daily tasks will include gathering and emptying trash to promote a tidy environment and caring for established lawns through mulching, aerating, weeding, and removing thatch. You will expertly trim and edge around flower beds, walkways, and walls to enhance aesthetic appeal.

Additionally, you will maintain irrigation systems, ensuring they function efficiently by winterizing them in colder months and starting them up in spring. Your role will also involve mixing and applying fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides to promote healthy growth of grass, shrubs, and trees. Finally, you will inspect equipment and structures to identify and resolve any issues, contributing to the overall safety and quality of our community spaces.

• Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to cleaning equipment. Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
