Suburban Testing Labs is a full-service environmental testing laboratory that specializes in the analysis of drinking water, ground water, wastewater, soil, and solid materials such as biosolids and sludge. We proudly serve Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. Founded in 1963, we provide our clients with customized solutions for their sampling or analytical needs.

We seek a Chemist for our SVOA lab (semi-volatile organic analyses) with several years of job experience performing lab analyses. STL is in a growth mode and offers expanding career building options and a supportive work culture for our employees

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Generate analytical data to support environmental compliance and decision making
  • Perform analyses following SOPs based on approved analytical methods using a variety of analytical techniques, equipment and instrumentation
  • Utilize technical knowledge to apply problem solving skills in a focused area of the lab and execute analyses consistently across a range of analytical techniques
  • Identify and help implement procedural opportunities for time savings
  • Support and participate in quality events such as audits

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially excel and word) and other windows software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology or related area; OR equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on, laboratory analysis job experience outside of academia
  • Lab experience involving SVOA (semi-volatile organic analyses) is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds periodically during each work shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Engage in the following movements: Balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking, grasping, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
  • The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines.
  • The incumbent is potentially subject to conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: odors, gases, poor ventilation.
