About DTMB:

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

About The Position

This position reports to the General Manager within the Department of Technology Management and Budget as a member of the CTO’s senior management team. The Division Director works with DTMB leadership to formulate and implement the department’s mission, policies, strategic plans, and directives, as well as the organizational structure where appropriate. The Division Director maintains strategic relationships internal and external to the state, including the governor’s office, agencies, legislative branch, suppliers, and external IT associations (i.e. NASCIO, NASTD, etc.).

For the assigned area, the Division Director is responsible for the coordination and direction of work for a team of both state employees and contract staff. Duties are met with a combination of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activities. The Division Director will ensure policy and compliance requirements are met. Ensure the product and service management portfolio aligns with the strategic plan. Oversee workforce and talent management. Oversee the continual improvement program activities. Oversee budget and financial activities. Seek to improve customer and employee satisfaction.

Position Location: This position is located in Dimondale, MI. This position may work a hybrid (remote/office) schedule with 2 days required in the office per week. Selected candidates who have been approved to work a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

Candidates selected for this position must complete the Michigan State Police background check. This extensive background check requires fingerprinting for state and federal criminal background records. The background search will include, but is not limited to arrests, criminal charges, criminal convictions, and any information regarding contact with a criminal justice agency.

Required Education And Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Two years of experience as a professional manager or program/staff specialist, or equivalent experience.

Alternate Education And Experience

Education level typically acquired through completion of high school and three years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 14 level; or, two years of safety and regulatory or law enforcement experience at the 15 level, may be substituted for the education and experience requirements
