Located in Livonia, Michigan, the 120+ employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for design, development, manufacturing, assembly and support of landing gear, actuation systems and other aerospace components.
As part of the Central Division you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs supporting Boeing, LockHeed Martin, Parker Hannifan, and military initiatives such as the B-2 Stealth, F105, and V280.
With a strong focus on latest technology of the manufacturing processes with machining automation and techniques we aim to remain the best value producer of complex landing gear components.

The material buyer's responsibilities include determining material specifications, creating and maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relations.
A successful Material Buyer should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials/processes required to maintain steady production and product delivery.

The material buyer will manage inventories and ensure that material resources are consistent with production schedules. The material buyer's responsibilities include determining material specifications, creating and maintaining inventory schedules, coordinating with internal departments, and managing external stakeholder relations.
A successful Material Buyer should be able to ensure the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials/processes required to maintain steady production and product delivery.
Main responsibilities:
- Develop and execute action plans to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Negotiate and execute long term agreements (LTA’s) with suppliers.
- Analyze proposals, negotiate best prices, and lead time, terms, and conditions.
- Confirm and monitor the manufacturing schedule against the ship schedule to communicate needs for on time delivery of product
- Manage subcontracted suppliers specific to machined parts, metal coatings, non-destructive testing, Heat Treat processes, grinding, etc.
- Working on advanced management of suppliers and setting up supplier agreements for respective commodities.
- Interact with Production Supervisor toward attainment of on time delivery/ECD for items needing to go out for processing.
- Communicate with respective departments on any changes that will change schedule execution or customer expectations
- Issue material releases, contact and follow-up with vendors as needed
- Prepare and distribute vendor release schedules to ensure the proper material is delivered at the proper time for production while maintaining desired inventory levels
- Release and close work orders as needed
- Support team in achievement of performance goals
- Meet deadlines for completion of the delegated tasks
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred.
- ISM CPSM Certification preferred
- 2+ years of material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related position
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management
- Strong communication skills bother verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office and material management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be available for weekend support rotation as needed.
- Must be process and detailed oriented.
- Must be a team player & excellent communicator.
- Solid computer experience, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- ERP experience (LN or other similar system) preferred.
- APICS certification a plus.
