Summary

Under direct supervision, this position participates in the planning, facilitation, and implementation of various library programs both in the building and at outreach events; performs a variety of technical duties; and assists library customers. Responsibilities may differ according to assigned area.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Performs outreach duties and provides information services and collection development
• Assists with program planning; implements programs and activities for assigned area
• Arranges library material in alphabetical and numerical order
• Shelves and retrieves material from the shelves
• Assists in searching for lost or misplaced materials
• Processes library card application forms
• Provides service using the automated library computer system
• Maintains holds shelves, adding and removing titles per requests and reports
• Assists patrons with circulation, directional, and informational questions; collects fines and fees
• Monitors supplies and verifies accuracy of all shipment items and publications
• Promotes library programs using marketing strategies
• Operates bookmobile and library outreach vehicles safely, follows vehicle equipment use policy
• Assists other library employees as needed
• Adheres to assigned work schedule and department attendance policies and procedures
• Follows city and library policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year of public library experience or related field
• Experience with Microsoft Office
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  
  
  

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid Driver’s License
