Duties
The CDC utilizes Direct/Expedited Hire Authorities to fill vacancies in a variety of occupations. This vacancy is a REPOSITORY of applications. Duties and responsibilities vary and may increase according to the grade level of the position. Applications may be periodically referred to hiring managers both during the open period and after the closing date. Because of the large number of applications anticipated, applicants' status will not be updated.

Duties

- Pharmacist: Grades GS-11 through GS-15
Duties May Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Performing a comprehensive review of the patient's medical history.
- Counseling patients on the use, proper method of administration of medications, side effects, precautions, and other general information prior to discharge.
- Monitoring patient medication therapy for effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions.
- Administering medications according to provider's guidance and pre-established protocols.
- Analyzing selected medication programs for accuracy, incompatibilities, contraindications, and appropriate doses.
Conditions of Employment
Due To The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention's (CDC's) Process Enhancement To Use Shared Certificates Throughout The Agency, Some Of The Requirements Below May Differ:
- US Citizenship is required.
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service ( http://www.sss.gov ).
- May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation. Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared.
- CDC participates in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program ( E-Verify ). If selected, CDC will determine your employment eligibility using your social security number.
- Direct deposit is required.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- This public notice may be used to fill supervisory or managerial positions and selectees may be subject to 1 year supervisory or managerial probationary period.
- Positions may be filled as permanent or term appointments.
- This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-521). This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing. The position may require the submission of a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and be subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing upon hiring. If required to submit to urinalysis, the appointment to the position will be contingent upon a negative test result.
Medical Requirements (All grades):

Basic Qualification Requirements:
- GS-11/12:
- 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
- GS-12 Additional Requirements:
- At least 1 year of professional pharmacy experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service such as providing pharmacology and pharmacy knowledge to the review and analysis of cardiovascular disease interventions involving pharmacies or pharmacists.
- GS-13/14/15:
- Education: Doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, AND
- Licensure: Licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory, AND
- GS-13 Additional Requirements:
- At least 1 year of professional pharmacy experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service such as making decisions on prior authorizations and appeals for medication; analyzing performance and recommending approaches and methods designed to enhance productivity and performance; and/or establishing program goals and objectives for a pharmacy unit.
- GS-14 Additional Requirements:
- At least 1 year of professional pharmacy experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service such as leading pharmacy and medical commodities responsible for pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities.
- GS-15 Additional Requirements:
- At least 1 year of professional pharmacy experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service such as reviewing and analyzing data to assure that all pharmaceuticals that may be purchased are in accordance with regulations and meet accepted standards for safety, efficacy, and quality; conducting assessments of pharmaceutical manufacturing, storage and distribution networks; and/or coordinating, planning, implementing, and evaluating emergency pharmaceutical procurement and distribution activities.

- The salary listed reflects the lowest and highest potential salaries for this position. The actual salary will be based on the geographic location of the individual(s) selected for this position. General Schedule locality pay tables may be found under Salaries & Wages . Salary may be adjusted to include a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
