The Payment/Payroll Analyst will join a team which is dedicated to ensuring all staff are paid on time and correctly.

The Payment/Payroll Analyst plays a pivotal role in identifying errors, reporting errors to the proper unit, and ensuring corrections are made to the employee’s record. The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Review Payroll reports in the Payroll Information system (PI) and the Report Management and Distribution System (RMDS) to ensure accurate bi-weekly payments to staff.
  • Review Leave Status reports to process accurate payments to staff on extended leave.
  • Compute managerial and non-managerial lump sum payments.
  • Compute retro-active payments to staff as a result of title changes, salary adjustments or contractual general wage increases.
  • Audit payments to staff, identifying overpayments, processing recoupment.
  • Collaborate with various units such as Timekeeping, Employment Services and Recruitment.
  • Assist with the batching and distribution of paychecks.
  • Provide customer service to ACS employees by responding to payroll inquiries, researching questions, and bringing issues to resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Skills Requirement

Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Preferred Skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Highly detail oriented. - Ability to work independently and with a group. - Ability to manage and complete multiple projects within set deadlines. - Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel and Access. - Proficiency in basic arithmetic. - Knowledge of City of New York Payroll, Timekeeping or Personnel procedures a plus. - Knowledge of City of New York applications and data processing systems a plus. - Prior experience in payroll, accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, payment services a plus.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
