Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs quality CT scans, per clinical protocol, for Radiologist review and interpretation
  • Keeps current in knowledge of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and technology
  • Must maintain compliance with all new procedures/policies within the CT Department
  • Supports referring departments by acting as a resource for clinical expertise pertaining to CT modality.
  • HIPAA awareness and compliance with emphasis on respect of the patients’ right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
  • Always demonstrates professionalism towards patients and their families as well as fellow employees
  • Keeps work areas organized and neat
  • Maintains inventory of exam room, maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Adheres to PPE and infection control requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Technical/Clinical Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs CT exams per department, facility, and ACR standards
  • Conducts equipment warm up and Quality Control procedures according to operating procedures established by manufacture’s guidelines to ensure effective, calibrated, and safe operation.
  • Informs appropriate personnel when problem in equipment exits, calls service engineers when repair is indicated
  • Confirms exam requisition orders and consults with Radiologist for detailed protocols per patient exam indication, as needed.
  • Properly identifies and escorts patient to CT scanner; assists patient onto scanner; reviews exam screening questionnaire; ensures lab values are within protocol limits, checks for proper IV placement and patency when indicated, positions patient for study, explains procedure, ability to answer questions.
  • Follows exam protocols to match each patient’s age, disease and body habitus
  • Enters pertinent information relating to patient and scan specifics into computer, directs specific operation of scan during procedure
  • Sets up necessary supplies/equipment for administration and delivery of IV solution and contrast agents as per departmental policy
  • Monitors patient condition during and immediately post scan with ability to identify complications or adverse reactions.
  • Performs quality CT scans, per clinical protocol, for Radiologist’s review and interpretation.
  • Ensures images are transmitted to PACS in entirety.
  • Completes exam in EMR and completes appropriate clinical notes in patient chart.

Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm or 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday

Required

  • MA License required and maintained
  • ARRT required
  • Advanced CT registration required
  • Ideal candidate would possess at least three years of experience within a CT Department
  • CPR/BLS certification required
  • IV skills preferred
  • Contrast utilization
  • Completion of a medical imaging program

Preferred

  • Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology
  • Knowledge of the principles of radiation physics
  • Knowledge of radiographic positioning and radiographic equipment
  • Acquires and maintains knowledge of related topics to include, but not limited to radiation safety, universal precaution, disposal of contaminated material, proper handling of requisitions (both before and after procedure)
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills both verbal and written

Ability to work in fast paced environment s including computer documentation and direct patient care.

  • Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately by using judgement and quick decision making.
  • Must possess the ability to assess patient specific data relative to age-specific needs and provide appropriate care.
  • Maintains a high standard of professionalism at all times.
