Summary

The NFL Media Group is seeking a News Assistant who will assist the Assignment Desk in all phases of the newsgathering process for both on-air and digital content.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to follow instructions and work well with others in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily assignments
  • Strong football knowledge and awareness of NFL events and stories, ability to quickly identify players and coaches.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations
  • Familiar with utilizing social media as a source of breaking news
  • Able to book feeds and file transfer
  • Must be flexible with work schedule including weekends and overnight shifts
  • This is not a supervisor position but candidate must but be able to work with other departments as well as crews in the field. At times will be the leader in the newsroom.

Required Qualifications

  • College degree
  • 1+ years in a newsroom environment

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

  • Working with others in various levels on the assignment desk, overseeing desk functions in off hours

Salary / Pay Range

The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

Travel

  • Minimal – some local assignments, not required

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Part-time – 29 hours or less/week
  • Must be flexible and able to work nights, weekends, overnight shifts.
  • This is not a remote position. Shifts are expected to be worked in the office.

Salary

$38.63—$38.63 USD
