Summary
The Case Manager is responsible for the collation, review, distribution, and filing of tissue donor records.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Identifies and reviews the donor screening/authorization paperwork from the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for completeness and accuracy and addresses findings with Communication Center staff.
- Obtains and reviews the donor tissue recovery forms for completeness and accuracy and addresses findings accordingly with the Tissue Recovery Staff.
- Performs QC reviews of tissue donor recovery records and enters the required data into the EMR.
- Performs a final blood sample suitability assessment.
- Requests medical records from outside agencies (hospital, EMS, etc.) and autopsy/toxicology reports from coroner/pathologist, as applicable.
- Initiates non-conformance workflows when necessary.
- Assembles and reviews the tissue final donor record/chart, finalizes data entry into the EMR, forwards copies of tissue final donor record/chart to the applicable tissue processing partners, and provides tissue partners with additional information needed to assess the final suitability of the tissues recovered.
- Obtains, reviews and disseminates all serology, culture, and autopsy/toxicology/pathology reports to the appropriate tissue processing partners and other departments and immediately reports all positive serology to the Quality System department.
- Files donor records and uploads completed donor record to EMR.
- Prepares statistical and performance reports as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
- AS degree required;
- Four (4) years of experience required;
- Knowledge of human anatomy, human physiology, and medical terminology
- Quality assurance experience preferred;
- Experience in reviewing and interpreting medical records/charts;
- Critical thinking skills; or,
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
