Job Description

  • Under general direction, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, assist the Public Programs Operations Manager in managing facilities and operations and implementing Agency strategic priorities and division initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Capital, Citywide Services, Borough Trades, and Division Leadership on projects. Assist with project tracking and reporting.
  • Contribute to division service contracts (e.g., elevator, fire alarm, fitness equipment), executing quality improvements and streamlining service delivery.
  • Support the Public Programs Operations Manager in identifying potential cost reductions, cost avoidance and other opportunities to improve fiscal and operational efficiency. Work to implement these changes.
  • Assist in monitoring HVAC, boiler, roof, indoor pool and other major systems to ensure a state of good repair.
  • Assist in coordinating division-wide facility maintenance reviews and trainings in collaboration with division leadership.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and coordination of performance metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Research, analyze and create reports, operational analysis and summary documents. Respond to requests for information.
  • Enter requests into Unifier, monitor purchase orders, provide updates and related reports to division leadership, manage vendor relationships and communicate updates.
  • Travel to recreation centers citywide to assist in performing inspections, collecting data and overall assessment of facilities.
  • Provide general office support, maintain electronic and hardcopy files and answer phones.
  • Assist with special projects as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications


1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills


1. Familiarity and/or experience with purchasing, facilities management and/or capital projects processes. 2. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, writing and time-management skills. 3. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 4. Proficiency in Office 365. Experience working with AMPS. 5. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. 6. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement


Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
