This is a temporary assignment lasting from December 2024-March 2025 with an opportunity to stay on as per diem.

Job Summary:

The Chef is responsible for all aspects of kitchen operation, to include but not limited to: menu planning; food preparation and storage; kitchen equipment and maintenance; and inventory management. This position is also responsible for ensuring adherence to all federal, state and local Health Department regulations and recommendations as well as delivering outstanding food quality for our patient population. The individual in this position is expected to exercise strong judgement and ensure fiscally responsible activities as it pertains to purchasing goods and managing product waste.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Upholds and maintains the Company, mission, and values (called the Lightfully "Special Sauce").
  • Maintain appropriate, therapeutic boundaries with patients and families at all times including adherence to HIPPA compliance for all culinary employees.
  • Responsible for maintaining all kitchen and dining areas, tools, and equipment, and scheduling maintenance as needed.
  • Responsible for food preparation and storage. Responsible for ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for kitchen sanitation and overall organization of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Create recipes and menus that meet or exceed high quality standards of organization while also ensuring they meet the needs of our patients and families.
  • Identify alternative menu and recipe options for allergies, vegetarian or vegan requirements as identified by clinical/medical team.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to create awareness of meal planning challenges and propose solutions that meet therapeutic needs of patients and families.
  • Coordinate with leadership to ensure collaborative working relationships between culinary and clinical teams and efficient processes around meal times.
  • Assist in training direct care and clinical team members on principles of nutrition, food preparation and storage and menu planning (including sanitation principles related to food and kitchen operations).
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Specific Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

General Skills and Requirements:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work for prolonged periods standing in a kitchen.
  • Able to lift up to 20 pounds.

The pay range for this position is $26.15-$43.27/hr.
