Main Purpose of Job

This full-time contractual position will review, interpret, verify and utilize Medical Assistance eligibility data to accurately update and maintain the MMIS Recipient Eligibility sub-system and Maryland Health Benefit Exchange in accordance with State and Federally mandated policies and regulations. This position will resolve discrepancies that prevent consumers from receiving Medical Assistance benefits in a timely fashion. This position will also provide customer service to various agencies regarding issues related to Medical Assistance eligibility. This position will act as a liaison with the hospitals, and LDSS regarding all policy and procedural requirements of the MMIS Eligibility File. This position will possess technical knowledge to access and interpret data in the CARES, MMIS II, HBX and IDB systems

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional general clerical experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience using the Enrollment and Eligibility System (E&E)
  • Experience with the Maryland Management Information System (MMIS)

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
