Frankford Friends School is seeking a Resident Substitute Teacher to provide learning opportunities for students 3-14 when a classroom teacher is unavailable. The position is full-time, 7:30-3:15, on all scheduled school days. The Resident Substitute Teacher reports to the Assistant Head for Teaching and Learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher.
  • Overseeing students outside of the classroom, including in the hallways and outdoors.
  • Connecting with students in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  • Complying with all school regulations and policies.
  • Managing student and classroom transitions.
  • Taking attendance and documenting daily notes.
  • Ensuring the classroom and work stations are kept clean and orderly.
  • Overseeing normal classroom rhythms and activities.
  • Compiling a report for the teacher for when they return.
  • Other related duties.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • All background clearance requirements necessary to work in a school in PA
  • Prior teaching experience or experience with children is required; flexibility and comfort in working with a variety of age levels.

A degree related to education is preferred.

Employment Type:

Salary is commensurate with experience, with benefits to include: paid parental leave; tuition remission and free aftercare for children who attend FFS; health care; professional development; 5% match on retirement contributions; and 10 days PTO.
