Description

Position Summary: West Cary group is looking for a driven and experienced Senior Creative Director who is passionate about creative excellence. You’re a professional with a strong strategic background and leadership attitude who wants to help shape the creative vision of our agency. Inspire and drive results within our creative teams, including creative directors, art directors, designers, and copywriters across a wide variety of projects in a regulated industry.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee creative teams at West Cary Group and chart a path forward for continued growth in capability, headcount, innovation and industry recognition
  • Contribute to West Cary Group’s business development efforts, helping to capture high-value opportunities and write proposals
  • Attend strategy meetings for new business and contribute to the development of pitches and the strategic positioning of WCG’s creative offering to new clients
  • Conduct internal review sessions to proactively monitor the status and quality of creative products being submitted and produced
  • Lead brainstorming sessions with creative team to develop ad campaigns based on client's needs
  • Own creative strategy and ideation across the agency, working with the project managers and the larger creative team to develop foundational strategies and specific concepts that will achieve client goals
  • Collaborate with in-house and freelance strategists, analytics experts, technologists and account managers to create compelling campaigns and stories that help protect, promote and evolve clients' brands
  • Oversee development of creative briefs and overarching creative concepts for campaigns and other deliverables in collaboration with other West Cary Group team members
  • Provide senior-level art direction across clients and product types, coaching designers to do their best work and pursue distinctive creative executions
  • Implement and streamline the processes for creative team intake and workflow, ensuring efficiency and full staff utilization
  • Represent WCG in the larger creative community to develop new talent pipelines
  • Work closely with the executive creative director to achieve world-class creative execution and help steer the vision for the creative team
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a creative role, 5+ years demonstrated leadership of creative teams
  • Bachelor’s degree required in graphic design, marketing, advertising, communications, or related field
  • Solid background in copywriting and/or design
  • Must be willing to work long hours
  • Knowledge of each step of an ad campaign's process to give creatives direction, work on schedule and meet client's advertising expectations
  • Heavy background in direct-mail advertising and a proven track record of success
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Broad-based creative and design expertise in a wide variety of media
  • Brand and identity management expertise
  • Supervisory experience in leading a creative team is a must
  • Knowledge of communication disciplines including marketing communications, advertising, media and public relations, printed and electronic design, web design, strategy development, and project management
