Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
Serve as Academic Advisor to student-athletes. Provide academic advising, planning and other support for student-athletes in other areas of course selection, registration procedures, degree requirements and career goals. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Academics and Associate Athletics Director for Academics.
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications
Collegiate experience is strongly preferred; experience with student-athletes is highly desirable.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with students, professors, peers and parents. Ability to prioritize work tasks and handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently. Ability to work with culturally diverse students.

Serve as academic advisor to student-athletes of assigned sports. Advise students on academic performance, course/major selection, developing a graduation plan, time management, goal setting, career planning, learning and study strategies, test taking, note taking and other skills for academic success.

Maintain student -athlete eligibility by University of South Carolina, SEC and NCAA standards, rules and regulations.

Maintain regular verbal communication and written status reports to coaches regarding academic issues and concerns.
