POSITION DETAILS
New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college offering associate and bachelor’s degree programs in a downtown Brooklyn. The Office of Student Life & Development is accepting applications for a Student Life & Development Coordinator at the Assistant at HEO rank.
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Life & Development, the Student Life & Development Coordinator will plan, organize and implement co-curricular and extracurricular activities and programs for students. The Coordinator is responsible for assisting student organizations with programming, and coordinating events at the College. The Coordinator will support the creation of innovative outreach activities to promote Student Life & Development programs, including collaborating with campus student organizations. The Student Life & Development Coordinator serves to help create a positive and engaging learning environment that contributes to the overall success of the student body at City Tech.
The Student Life & Development Coordinator's responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Assist in the overall coordination of undergraduate student co-curricular programming, advising student leaders, and promoting the personal development of a diverse student population
- Provide administrative and logistical assistance for ongoing activities and events including New Student Orientation, Commencement, student organization events, and other Student Life & Development events
- Assist with financial record keeping and financial transactions: e.g., coordinating deliveries and placing orders; purchasing fresh produce and groceries for the food pantry; collecting and processing receipts and invoices; and maintaining an accurate list of expenses
- Coordinate operation of the NEST Resource Center (Food Pantry), including training, supervision and evaluation of staff and volunteers to support food pantry operations. May also provide direct evening and weekend support for NEST Resource Center and college events, including oversight of equipment and supplies, and acting in the capacity of student chaperone
- As directed by management, evaluate student needs and trends, and develop and administer specific programs and general activities in response to outcome data. May assist in administering grant proposals
- Represent the College in campus-wide and university-wide groups and councils focusing on priority student issues
- Assist with development of programming partnerships within CUNY and throughout the New York City metro area
- As assigned, develop qualitative and quantitative assessment protocols to measure program impact and quality of service. May refer students to other to partnering agencies based on need
- Ensure that follow-up with both clients and partnering agencies occurs regarding referrals and outcomes and ensure appropriate documentation of all program data and services
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Director
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evening and weekend hours, is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years’ experience in in higher education student services, such as advisement, student governance, or student life, is highly desirable
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proficiency in online communication
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and work both independently and as part of a team
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms
- Prior experience planning and assisting with special events

- Assists student organizations/clubs in planning, implementing events and programs, and managing expenditures
- Coordinates and helps present informational and educational programs, such as student leadership training and orientation

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$57,517 - $70,541. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
