Essential Job Functions: 1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching, evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with university policies and procedures.

2. Oversees the student disciplinary process. Meets and communicates with students and colleagues to address and respond to complaints and concerns regarding student conduct.

3. Develops and enforces policies related to student behavior, upholding institutional values and standards and the NSU Student Code of Conduct.

4. Develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive mental health programs and services catering to diverse student populations.

5. Directs the preparation, maintenance, and on-time submission of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, and files related to assigned activities and personnel; and as required by federal, state, and institutional policies.

6. Coordinates outreach initiatives to raise awareness about mental health resources and programs available to students.

7. Responds to students and/or families seeking assistance for mental health crises and to inquiries from the campus community referring students for assistance.

8. Serves as a key member of the crisis management and NSU CARE Team, providing expertise on student conduct and mental health issues.

9. Collaborates with campus and community stakeholders to provide crisis intervention and support for affected students.

10. Works closely with academic departments, student organizations, and community resources to foster a holistic approach to student wellness and development.

11. Participates in and leads training programs for faculty and staff on issues related to conduct, mental health, and student support.

12. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations regarding student conduct and mental health services, including but not limited to Clery and FERPA.

13. Collects and analyzes data relating to student conduct and mental health services. Prepares and presents reports as needed.

14. Assists in the development and monitoring of the annual budget for the office, controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations; and assures proper utilization of funds.

15. Completes other projects as required.

16. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

2. Advanced knowledge of Student Conduct policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the principles of student leadership and development, mediation and conciliation techniques, student services or related field State and federal laws related to campus safety and student discipline.
4. Knowledge of the principles of the institution, administration, management, and budgeting.
5. Knowledge of crisis counseling, mental health interventions and emergency response procedures.
6. Customer and Personal Service – Proficient knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of user satisfaction.
7. Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database, Maxient, and data entry skills.

Job Requirements:
Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: Master’s Degree
Major (if required): Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education Administration, or a related field
Required Experience: Seven (7) years of experience in student affairs, conduct, and/or crisis response
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience working in higher education.
2. Mental health counseling and case management.
3. Involvement at the state, regional and/or national level with professional associations
4. Prior experience supervising others
