POSITION TITLE: Director of Finance and IT
RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director
HRS PER WEEK: 40 hours+
CLASS: EXEMPT
SALARY: $100,000 - $125,000 Depending on experience
BENEFITS: Eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance the first of the month following 30 days of employment with other benefits eligibility after a 90-day mutual introductory period is completed. SUMMARY OF POSITION: As a member of the Leadership Team, this position is responsible for providing strategic direction to the organization and management and oversight of the agency’s finances: using a fully integrated inventory and accounting system; producing monthly financial reports; providing forecasting and dashboards for short- and long-term planning; managing banking activities; monitoring governmental contracts/grants; and providing leadership of the five-person accounting, inventory, and IT team.
FINANCIAL:
- Provides leadership on financial issues, including ongoing analysis, research, trend and systems evaluation in support of strategic planning and day-to-day problem solving.
- Performs accounting activities based on U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) and manages all financial records.
- Provides monthly financial reports, including written narrative analysis of significant budget versus actual variances.
- Leads the organization through the annual budget process.
- Monitors the organizational budget and departmental budgets.
- Oversees the annual independent audit, including preparation of supporting schedules, account reconciliations and other information, as requested by the auditors.
- Maintains system of internal controls to ensure accuracy of financial record and IT.
- Monitors governmental contracts and grant invoicing and reporting.
- Ensures that governmental reports, such as Form 990 & Oregon CT-12, are filed in a timely manner.
- Ensures the recording of inventory follows U.S. GAAP and food banking best practices.
- Holds the monthly meetings of the Board’s Budget & Finance Committee.
- Meets monthly with each Director to review financial department reports and discuss trends/issues.
- Leads team of Assistant Finance Manager, Accounts Payable & Payroll Coordinator, Inventory System Supervisor, and Inventory Assistant.
RISK MANAGEMENT & BENEFITS:
- Evaluates property, liability & other insurances and develops risk management strategies.
- Evaluates employee benefits and insurances with the Director of Equity, People, and Culture.
- Works with the Executive Director on contractual and/or legal requirements.
- Consults with the Executive Director on contract legal consulting.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY:
- Supervises externally managed IT Services (currently Emerald Technology Group).
- Develops Technology budget and monitors IT-related CapEx pipeline planning.
- Meets monthly with IT team lead (and others if needed) for IT environment status/check-in.
- Other IT supervisory duties as needed.
OTHER TASKS & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Manages special projects as requested by the Executive Director or Budget & Finance Committee.
- Actively engage and participate in FFLC programs and services to better understand the need for FFLC’s services.
- Administer organization cellphone plan (currently with AT&T).
- Performs other duties as requested by the Executive Director.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: We value all forms of experience including, unpaid work, lived experience, education, and training.
- Bachelor degree with emphasis in Accounting.
- Five to ten years progressive full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in matters relating to accounting activities.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills including effective presentation and public speaking skills.
- Strong experience with accounting software and spreadsheets. Advanced proficiency in Excel preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification a plus.
- We use Primarius/ECCA for Inventory Management, Accounts Payable, and Accounting/GL. We use Paylocity for Payroll processing. Most reporting is done with Microsoft Office.
