The initial emphasis of this position will be to reflect the rich artistic and cultural life of Western and Central Oregon. Reporting responsibilities may evolve as coverage needs require

Salary/Compensation Statement:

Working Schedule: This is an hourly, as needed, position, working up to 1039 hours annually (approximately 20 hours per week) as assigned by the department. Some weekend or evening hours may be assigned depending on news and programming coverage needs. KLCC serves communities throughout western and central Oregon and some travel outside Eugene-Springfield will be necessary

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education College level training in journalism, digital content management, broadcasting, graphic design, audio and video editing
Preferred Experience
- News gathering, research, writing, interviewing and editing.
- On-air presentation and operation of broadcasting equipment.
- Creation of news, programming or promotional content for broadcast and/or digital platforms.
- Expertise in digital content management, graphical data display and editing.
- Familiarity with public broadcasting standards and values.

Position Purpose: This position will work closely with the Program Director and News Director to generate and coordinate content for KLCC broadcast and digital portals, including on-air features, podcasts and calendar items. This position will work across digital and traditional broadcast platforms
Essential Functions: Essential Functions
- Curate and maintain KLCC online community events calendar.
- Write and record audio spots for broadcast focusing on community events within KLCC’s service area.
- Report, write and produce journalistic content for broadcast and digital.
- Edit graphics, audio and video for use on-air and online.
- Develop and maintain news contacts.
- Participate in the production of KLCC News special broadcasts and series as assigned.
- Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement: This position works under the direction of the KLCC Program Director and News Director
Physical Demands/Working Environment: This position will work primarily in an office environment, with some field reporting and public events required. Uusual office working conditions include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.
KLCC covers communities throughout western and central Oregon and occasional travel outside Eugene-Springfield may be assigned
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities in:
- Writing, reporting and editing content for digital and broadcast.
- Photography, graphic design and audio/video editing.
- Familiarity with content management systems and social media software.
- Knowledge of live streaming and podcasting.
- Familiarity with web graphics and multimedia storytelling techniques.
- Appreciation and awareness of cultural activities, music, visual and performing arts.
- Understanding of the mission and values of public media.
- Comfortable with public appearances and fundraising.
