Job Summary:
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is growing! We are looking for a for an Accountant, interested in making a difference in healthcare, to manage the department's financial accounts. BME educates engineers to lead the biotechnology revolution of the 21st century. Our Biomedical engineers are progressing science and technology to solve the most fundamental problems in medicine. The position is responsible for managing and reviewing financial transactions and fund balances to ensure accuracy and compliance. Key duties include developing and providing financial reporting for the department by cost center, account type, and transaction type. This role oversees the month-end and year-end close-out processes and directs financial and accounting operations in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities include overseeing daily financial operations, such as purchasing, ShopUW+, purchasing card site management, e-reimbursement, asset management, invoicing, foundation transfers, and other functions. The position collaborates with department leadership to develop and manage budgets, analyzing data to forecast trends and ensure spending aligns with the department's allocated budget.
The role serves as a resource and subject-matter expert for faculty, staff, and students to ensure adherence to campus, College of Engineering, and departmental financial policies, including travel and purchasing guidelines. This position also collaborates with research administrators to manage faculty research expenses and works closely with the department's administrative team to support departmental activities.

This role may require some work to be conducted in-person at a designated campus location, while certain tasks may be completed remotely at an offsite location. Remote work options will become available following the completion of training and onboarding.
