This is a site based role in Tucson, Arizona.
Position Overview:
The Intermediate Buyer is accountable to the Commercial Manager for the day-to-day buying and expediting of goods and services for the project and the client offices in Southern Arizona. The Intermediate Buyer is responsible for procuring goods and services essential to project success, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. All work must be performed under the client’s Procurement Policies and Procedures.
Key Result Areas:
- Ensure that the project’s buying and expediting needs are met and achieved in a compliant manner, according to client Procurement Policies and Procedures.
- Process requisitions and purchase orders promptly and efficiently to ensure that the client receives the optimal value from the purchasing and expediting functions.
- Ensure the success of sourcing projects using e-sourcing systems and utilizing procurement tools fully.
- Prepare and process Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Invitations for Bids (IFBs), and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for construction materials, equipment, and services.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, considering cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Analyze bids and proposals to ensure they meet project requirements and financial constraints
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information
- Ensure ethical behavior in all dealings with Suppliers.
- Monitoring the performance of suppliers’ commitments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience buying and expediting in large, heavy infrastructure, natural resource projects, construction, or manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of purchasing and accounts payable interface.
- Knowledge of general purchasing procedures, regulations, and industry standards regarding material purchase, such as contract law and tender opening procedures.
- An ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and thoroughness.
- Professional, positive, and energetic attitude; excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to relate well to contacts inside and outside the organization.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and foster productive business relationships.
