Base Rate:
$22.00
Performance Pay:
Available annually
New hire experience:
1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum
New hire education:
1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

OVERVIEW:
To create and maintain student transportation route schedules; and to serve as team leader, including training, for the routing and scheduling of student transportation to ensure the effective operation of student transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School education or equivalent
- Moderate proficiency in typing, with good accuracy; above average test battery
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc)
- Ability to organize, analyze, and summarize large data sets; experience and proficiency in exporting/importing data between programs
- Experience with computerized bus routing software preferred
- Proven leadership abilities; ability to analyze and problem solve
- Knowledge of routing, mapping and scheduling
- Moderate understanding of computer networks and systems
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and to meet deadlines while working with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) including proper phone procedures; maintain confidentiality
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district personnel of all levels
- Ability and willingness to work overtime including weekends as needed
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate all routing software programs to create and maintain student transportation bus route schedules
- Receive student and enrollment changes from Synergy for analysis and student bus transportation routing assignments
- Receive teacher and staff input regarding route or student issues for analysis and route adjustments
- Monitor school special schedules for analysis and route adjustments
- Coordinate route scheduling for special requirements including after school tutoring classes, summer school classes and programs; prepare and submit billing as appropriate
- Adhere to and enforce management guidelines for bus rider eligibility, open enrollment, walk zones, etc
- Support school staff on the utilization of the MapNet web site for bus rider and bus route information
- Analyze and create McKinney-Vento program student transportation routes and coordinate with other school districts as needed
- Analyze and create student transportation routes for special education students with door to door transportation; communicate Special Handling guidelines, seat type requirements, medical and behavior concerns, etc. when appropriate
- Maintain the underlying street map within the routing software to ensure adequate coverage for student transportation for Mesa Public Schools and applicable adjacent districts
- Establish and maintain student transportation route and rider records for accurate retrieval of data for reporting purposes, billing and audits to include McKinney-Vento, Medicaid and Unorganized Territory
- Prepare student transportation route and rider reports according to established schedules
- Create and maintain archive records of routing information
- Oversee student transportation routing staff, including training and utilization of personnel, for the routing and scheduling of student transportation; assist in the performance evaluation of routing personnel
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the work unit
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
