What's the role?
The Human Resources Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Manager, and the primary role will be responsible for supporting the HR Team in performing administrative and HR Functions within the Human Resources Department.
Specific Departmental Requirements:
- Assists with guiding employees through various human resource processes, such as Onboarding, Benefit Enrollment, HRIS systems, Leave and Workers Compensation and answering any questions they may have regarding terms and conditions of employment, Company policies, HR practices and procedures.
- May serve as a liaison between employees and insurance provider.
- Responsible for ensuring all HR forms are current.
- Responsible for ensuring all Position Descriptions (PDs) are current and each position within the company has a competed PD.
- Assists Senior HR Advisor and other HR team members in roll-out of initiatives, projects and assignments, e.g. facilitation and coordination of yearly benefit open enrolment process, supplying HR data for audit requests.
- Assists with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting with regards to leave management, workers compensation, benefits, ADP, 401K as well as other HR reporting requirements.
- Gathers and compiles employee data for reports. Sends required and requested information to applicable parties.
- Assists with requirements related to new employees' visas, responds to legal requests and maintains related files.
- Communicates and/or elevates any issues or areas of concern to the Senior HR Advisor.
- Makes recommendations to Senior HR Advisor in areas of expertise.
- Attends and participates in HR team meetings when scheduled.
- Assists in specialized tasks related to benefits administration, recruitment, HRIS, FLSA, FML, workers compensation and employee relations.
- Performs personnel data entry for all HRIS systems and other HR processes.
- Responsible for ensuring that all Personnel and Confidential documents are filed in a timely manner and in compliance with Company, State and Federal policy and practice.
- Assists in employee exit interviews when requested.
- Conducts audits of HRIS systems related to payroll, benefits, Leave and personnel data by using audit reports and identified tools.
- Coordinates training sessions and presentations. Tracks trainings conducted.
- Responsible for processing HR invoices.
- Responsible for monthly and annual Leave, Benefits and other HRIS reporting
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 12-18 months relevant experience performing administrative assistant or HR Technician functions.
- Demonstrated competence with office processes, systems, equipment and software.
- Broad knowledge of Human Resources as well as general administrative responsibilities.
- Advanced computer literacy; proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail with exceptional organizational and time management skills to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters effectively and discreetly.
- Must display initiative, be able to work independently and learn what is needed to perform required tasks.
- Ability to get along with others as a team player, have an excellent work ethic and attendance record.
- Current Driver's License.
- Be able to pass a background check and post-offer physical.
Desired Experience & Competencies:
- Experience in the mining industry preferred.
- Experience with Pronto and ADP or comparable HRIS systems.
- Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
- Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.
The Details:
Work location is primarily based at our Fairbanks Office with some work on a remote site approximately 3 hours' drive from Fairbanks via Company-provided transportation. The preferred schedule is 5 days on/2 days off. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
If employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
