Job Summary
The Alumni Relations and Community Outreach Program Director is a pivotal role within the School of Social Work, responsible for developing, implementing, and managing robust alumni and community engagement programs. This position aims to foster lasting relationships between alumni, the local community, and the institution, enhancing the visibility and impact of the School of Social Work and social work initiatives. Additionally, the role involves strategic planning to ensure alignment with the school’s long-term goals and UTA’s 2030 strategic plan, identifying opportunities for growth, and leveraging community and alumni networks to support and advance the mission of the School of Social Work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Alumni Program Development
- Design, implement, and evaluate alumni engagement programs, workshops, professional development opportunities, and various alumni related events that support stewardship and networking opportunities that meet the needs of our graduates and promote lifelong connections.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance alumni involvement in academic and extracurricular activities.
- Cultivate relationships with alumni and community members to encourage philanthropic giving, providing information on funding opportunities that support the School’s priorities.
Community Outreach Initiatives
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local social service organizations, community groups, and stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts.
- Organize community events that promote social work education and practice, including workshops, forums, and awareness campaigns.
- Facilitate volunteer opportunities for students and alumni within the community.
Data Management and Reporting
- Utilize data and storytelling to develop meaningful reports for stakeholders that demonstrate the School of Social Work’s impact in community and alumni outreach.
- Manage budgets for alumni and community initiatives, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Aligning with the campus wide efforts to track alumni engagement metrics, use data analysis to assess program effectiveness and identify growth opportunities.
Collaboration and Support
- Develop a strategic partnership with Development & Alumni Relations for the purpose of sharing data and building collaborative engagement opportunities that contribute to the annual CASE Alumni Engagement Metric Survey.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and student organizations to promote priorities and enhance collaboration between alumni, current students, and the community.
- Serve as a liaison between alumni, community members, and the School of Social Work.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any field with a demonstrated commitment to social work values and ethics.
- Experience with project or program management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in any field.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in alumni relations, community outreach, or program coordination, preferably in an academic or non-profit setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of social work practices, alumni relations, and community outreach.
- Professional organizational abilities, adaptability to changing needs, and analytical skills for data-driven decisions.
- Cultural competency and leadership in creating impactful engagement programs are essential to fostering connections between alumni, students, and the broader community. Understanding of marketing strategies and principles.
- Professional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a variety of populations within and outside of the school and UTA community.
